Pittencrieff Street, Dunfermline

A design and build project on behalf of Kingdom Housing Association for high quality, mid market rental properties on the cusp of Dunfermline.

Campion Homes identified and procured part of the site. Working in Partnership with Kingdom Housing Association, who acquired the remaining portion of the site, a 65 unit scheme, providing two and three bedroom flats, was developed for mid market rent. On the entry to Dunfermline from the west, this was seen as a gateway development and required a bold planning statement.

This evolved into the current of provision 4, 5 and 6 storeys in 6 number common access blocks. The unit numbers, together with restricted space on site, necessitated undercroft parking to 3 of the blocks. With the number of storeys, the decision was made to limit the timber frame to a maximum of 4 storeys with traditional construction to the lower floors in excess of this. The building height also required progressive collapse detailing and the inclusion of lifts.
